Frequently Asked Questions
Q1 Where do the card prices come from?
Pokex pulls pricing data primarily from TCGPlayer, the largest Pokemon card marketplace. Prices reflect real market activity based on recent sales and current listings, giving you an accurate picture of what cards are actually selling for.
Q2 How often are prices updated?
Market prices update throughout the day as new sales occur on TCGPlayer. When you scan a card or view it in your collection, you see the most recent available pricing data. Prices in your collection summary refresh automatically.
Q3 What do the different price points mean?
Pokex shows market price (the average recent sale price), low price (the cheapest current listing), and mid price (the median of current listings). Market price is the most reliable indicator of a card's true value since it reflects completed sales.
Q4 Can I see prices in my local currency?
Pokex displays prices in USD by default, as TCGPlayer pricing is USD-based. Currency conversion to other currencies will show approximate values based on current exchange rates. The setting can be changed in your account preferences.
Q5 Why does my card show a different price than what I see on eBay?
Pokex uses TCGPlayer market data, which often differs from eBay prices. TCGPlayer tends to be more standardized for Pokemon cards with a dedicated collector market. eBay prices vary widely based on seller, listing type, and auction dynamics.
Q6 Are prices shown for graded cards?
Pokex shows prices for raw (ungraded) cards by default. Graded card prices vary significantly by grade, grading company, and population, making a single price point misleading. Use the raw price as a baseline and research graded prices separately for specific grades.
